It's a Long Story

Officially opened on May 9th 2016, the Long Lane Recreation Ground in Attenborough is another brand new playspace featuring eibe Play equipment. To commemorate the event, local Nottinghamshire schoolchildren from Meadow Lane Infant School and Attenborough Church Pre-School were invited along to try out all the great new products at the recently refurbished play area. There was a lot of sunshine and a lot of excitement, all witnessed by the outgoing Mayor of Broxtowe, Councillor Susan Bagshaw.
The original play area had become very run down and outdated, so a group of concerned locals contacted Broxtowe Borough Council to see if necessary improvements could be made. With suitable funding secured from Waste Recycling Limited (WREN), raised as a result of the partnership between the Council and Groundwork Greater Nottingham, the park could be refurbished with attractive new play equipment.

After consultation with key stakeholders and indeed local children themselves, eibe supplied six new items at a cost of just over £10,000. The eibe minimondo Rose is a picturesque unit for toddlers, which sits alongside some great swings for older children and an all-inclusive ecorino seesaw.

Leader of Broxtowe Borough Council, Councillor Richard Jackson said:

“Fantastic play facilities help children enjoy the great outdoors and their leisure time with their friends and families, as well as giving them chance to run around and keep active”.

Cheryl Raynor, WREN’s grant manager for Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire, added:

“It was a delight to see the children enjoying the play area during the opening celebrations and we are pleased that our funding has made a positive impact locally.”
