Godwin Junior School is located in Forest Gate within the London Borough of Newham. This summer, the outdoor play area has been transformed thanks to ambitious, results-driven staff led by Head Teacher John Shannon, as well as new bright, adventuresome play equipment courtesy of eibe Play.
The £20,000 project features as its centrepiece an Aba Tawa unit with a climbing wall instead of a slide. It was installed on to rubber bonded mulch beneath the trees and really does transform the whole area.
The school specifically wanted a play unit that could not only take lots of footfall, but also contained lots of different play features without taking up too much space. London Consultant David Chidlow says it’s always rewarding when you see the happiness a new project brings to local schoolchildren,
“The Aba Tawa is a fantastic and very social piece of kit. There are loads of play opportunities within it, plus ample space to enjoy role play and fantasy games. The Godwin kids will have bundles of fun I’m sure.”
