Garth Park in Launton Road, Bicester is a brand new playspace for the county of Oxfordshire. Working in conjunction with Chris Johnson of Bicester Town Council, eibe Play has breathed new life into what was a tiring and unused recreation area. The £160,000 Wren funded scheme features a host of great play equipment that will entertain children of differing ages for many years to come.
One of the council’s key objectives that they shared with eibe at the very beginning was the sustainability of the play area and that it needed to be natural in appearance, offering challenge to as many children as possible. The original equipment had grown old and out-dated, so the new products really needed to have the Wow Factor!
eibe’s designers proposed an integrated water play area, alongside a mound with a crawling tunnel and boulders, as well as a visually stunning Ema robinia unit with nets and climbs.
Work started in December and, despite the wet winter weather, very little disruption occurred and the client was delighted to have the park ready for the New Year.
A thrilled Chris Johnson commented:
"We have been delighted with the complete package provided by eibe Play Ltd. The play area has been transformed from a tired and dated site to an area which is in keeping with the rest of the site providing outstanding play provision for visitors. Although not yet ready to open officially, we have been delighted with the final outcome and the feedback received has been extremely positive. We are so satisfied with the service and final product we will be inviting ebie to look at some other projects we have in mind across the town."
