eibe’s award-winning Grandfather Oak project at Dalby Forest recently celebrated its first anniversary. Thousands of visitors have enjoyed the unique interactive play area in the North Yorkshire Moors over the last 12 months and eibe is thrilled with its success and popularity.
It was back in October 2013 that original plans began to revamp the entire provision of play facilities at Low Dalby. Core stakeholders wished to allow families to start their journey of exploring the forest via a range of play installations and tree characters. eibe installed some great bespoke equipment and the park won a Green Apple Award and a CSR Excellence Award in 2014 for its environmental ethos.
To commemorate the year of happiness on June 12th 2015, there was a celebration picnic and play day at Dalby which included local school children, as well as Forestry Commission staff, committee members of Yorventure and eibe themselves.
“We are delighted that Yorventure chose Dalby Forest for its unique 25th anniversary celebration with a large grant to change the way children play in Dalby. Local children have also played a key role in choosing what’s on offer now and we hope their families continue to come back and enjoy it for many years to come,” said Petra Youngfrom the Forestry Commission.
