Birdworld has been one of the South East’s most popular leisure attractions since it first opened in 1968. Originally run as a family business, the park rapidly grew in size and a children’s farm and aquarium were added.
Constantly adapting to market trends and evolving in to a modern destination park, neighbouring business owners, Denys E. Head Ltd, (still the current owners), bought Birdworld in the mid-90s to complete the third division of their already well-established company. The thriving Hampshire enterprise includes the adjacent Forest Lodge Garden Centre and the nearby Garden Style Nursery just a short distance away, all set in the beautiful surroundings of Alice Holt Forest.
Plans to develop the park further are always at the forefront of the business and in the early part of 2016 the team has added a brand new £32,000 area, Parrot Island Adventure Play, to attract a new breed of younger visitor, courtesy of eibe Play.
The Amazon Climbing Unit was the product of choice of Park Manger, Mark Anderson. The eibe design team designed and manufactured the additional parrots to fit in with the theme. The overall look is cosmetically eye-catching with the added benefit of a piece of equipment that is crammed full of play value with climbing, swinging and balancing an integral part of the unit’s appeal.
Mark is delighted with how the play area has turned out and the service provided by eibe,
“Everyone loves it!” he enthused, “The quality of the product is excellent, as was the service provided by the installers, who left the area tidy and did a great job.”
